The Huberhof - the beginnings, present times and prospects

01/02/2025

The origins of Panoramahotel Huberhof date back to 1950 when Maria and Franz Oberhammer settled at a small farm in Meransen. Their son Peter took over the farm as a young man, laying the foundation for a promising future.

In 1971, he became the leaseholder of the Gitschhütte in the skiing area Gitschberg, which was a simple wooden hut at the time. It was during this period that ski tourism on Gitschberg began to take root. The "Gitsch Lift" and "Sergerwiesen Lift" transported guests up the mountain. However, it wasn’t always easy. Senior Peter recalls: "Some days, 10 to 15 people would come; on other days, none. The supply was also challenging because back then there was no electricity or running water. Cooking was done on a simple gas stove."
Despite the difficulties, Peter was fully dedicated to developing tourism in Meransen, a village with a breathtaking panorama.

Over time, Peter developed the desire to open a small guesthouse next to his farm. This dream became a reality in 1976 with the construction of the guesthouse Huberhof. Two years later, the guesthouse opened its doors with 15 rooms. It was the beginning of a journey that shaped Panoramahotel Huberhof into what it is today.
A year later, Peter met his future wife Paula, who supported him from the start by cooking for guests with love.

After several years and the birth of four daughters, their son Jonas was born. Paula passed on her passion for cooking to Jonas, who trained to become a chef.
Over time, the guesthouse evolved and grew into a three-star hotel. More and more guests were captivated by the hotel’s unique panorama, leading to further expansions.

In 2001, the hotel was expanded to 25 rooms. A wellness area and indoor pool were also added to ensure guests could enjoy ultimate relaxation.
In 2015, Jonas took over the hotel and ran it together with his wife Verena. In 2019, they transformed it into a four-star superior hotel. The hotel now offers 34 rooms and suites with a unique view of the Dolomites, a 27-meter infinity pool, a fully equipped fitness room, an event sauna with daily infusions, and numerous relaxation spaces.
A special feature of Panoramahotel Huberhof is the adjacent farm, which still operates and delights especially young guests with its animals.
Our hotel, run with warmth and hospitality, offers plenty of relaxation amidst nature with breathtaking views.

To make our guests' stay even more exclusive and relaxing, the hotel will offer a whirlpool, a cold plunge pool, and additional relaxation areas starting in May 2025. Our double rooms will also be completely modernized.
